New York is a truly wonderful city, particularly for creatives. You can barely walk down a street in this city without encountering a barrage of colors, advertising, art, architecture, and any number of inspiration, its is literally a creative playground. I took the opportunity to take some pictures while in the area of the 35th and Broadway, as well as when I was in the Subway catching my train back to Brooklyn. These are the ones that really caught my attention.

I really enjoyed working on this particular image. Look at me was a chance to try out some new techniques. I did extensive retouch work to this image including, completely recreating the eyes and lips, whitening the teeth, and smoothing the skin.

I used different adjustment layers to really get the image to pop. The butterfly wings I did myself using a reference. The model in this image was great and had very unique and expressive features that allowed this image to work the way I imagined it.

Touched is one my favorite new pieces that will be featured in my upcoming book, this image was also featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine issue 67 (march/april 2010).

At the end of last year 3 pieces of my artwork were featured in Photoshop Creative Magazine Issue 54 along with several other digital artist. In this article I talk about that experience and how it effected me.

Now FREEZE is a photo-manipulation that is straight hip hop. I found a fantastic stock image to work with and using dynamic lighting effects was really able to bring it to life in a new way.

Using the artistic nude stock of Marcus J Ranum usually has wonderful results.
“So Very Broken” is my latest digital painting. Marcus J Ranum’s stock image are amazing, they are of great quality, size and composition. I have been wanting to use this particular one for quite some time. I wanted to create an image using warm color that yet conveyed a feeling nearly infinite sorrow, as a way of contrasting color and emotion.

I’ve seen some amazing photo-manipulations and dark artwork in the online community lately and felt inspired to create a new piece for Photoshop Creative’s Web Challenge this month.

The Star Girl, is a concept I’ve been revisiting in my Photo Manipulations, that I’ve become quite fond of. By combining and array of lighting effects to create the surreal image conveying energy and emotion. The concept was so well received when I did the first Star Girl image, that I decided to do a series of them.

Today I interview a truly talented Graphic Designer and Digital Artist you may be familiar with, she has been featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine, and Photoshop Creative Magazine just to name a few. I am personally a huge fan of her work and have had the pleasure of talking with her about it, her name is Karen McDade and her work is nothing short of spectacular!

Some people have the mistaken impression that Non Destructive editing is simply using layer stacks properly, but its so much more than that! Photoshop has come a long way in how it allows you to presever the natural integrity of your images.

I was approached by another Graphic Designer “Okee”, to develop a logo for him. Okee specializes in original designs for products, mostly t-shirts and occasionally commission digital artwork and has several products featured in online stores.
