Roberto Blake Sketch Work

1 November 2009 No Comment

Today I wanted to post something a bit more personal to me. My earliest skill was always that of an illustrator, and part of m original ambition was to do comics and animation. It’s something that is still a large part of who I am, and something I still have a passion for. With so much of my focus in design shifting to photo-manipulation, digital painting, and typography, I find myself longing to do more with hand drawn elements and vector, and so I’ve decided to give myself some more time for that, and begin work on a web comic project I’ve had on the back-burner for sometime.

This is my oldest original character, Rave. I had a pet rabbit named “Speedy” growing up as a child, which was the original inspiration (and name) for this character, which over the years evolved into Rave. Rave has always represented my alter-ego, and we share an ability in different ways. Rave can create nearly anything he can imagine, and tries to use that power to save his world and fulfill his ideals. Through art and design I try to create what I imagine, and improve the lives of others when and where I can.

I want to get to a point again where I have sketches worth posting on deviantart every day. If you’re someone whose done freehand drawing and have stopped for some reason, I really suggest you get back into it, you’ll be glad you did, and also I would love to see what some of you are drawing some time.
